Jesus his disciples he told him that they shall be his witness. Their duty was to testify that he rose from the dead. One thing that makes us unique from other religions is that our founder is still alive. And we know that you cannot give what you do not have. But our lord is alive and because he lives, we also live. He said he came that we might have life and have it in abundance. From 1 Corinthians 15 we learn that our hope of ressurections is in the fact he rose from the dead and he did not rise then we are the most sad people on earth but our savior lives. And because he lives, we live as well
Life
John 1:4 says In Him (Jesus) was life and the life was the light of men. At that time there were some people who used to think that they had life but to my surprise only Jesus had life according to John1:4. Meaning that some someone can say that he is alive, yet he is dead. Thats why Jesus had to say unless a man is born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. After our natural birth there is a need of the birth of the spirit. The reason why we say of the spirit is that when man is born again that which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of Spirit is spirit (John3:6). So, we need to be born again. John 10, Jesus said that he came that we might have and might have it in abundance. Now the opposite of life is death, and this death came through sin as the scripture says the wages of sin is death. Meaning the life that Jesus was giving it was to compensate the effect of what men did at the cross. So, Jesus did not come to the world to destroy sin only but the effects of sin as well. He destroyed the works of the devil at the cross. And the scripture says that the last enemy he will destroy is death (1 Corinthians 6:15).

What does it mean to receive Jesus. According to Romans 10:1-3 Paul said that he prayed for Israelites that they might be saved. Though they had a zeal for God but whatever they were doing they were doing it not according to knowledge. I want to believe that these guys would pray and fast as they did in the times of Jesus. Yet Paul said that he was praying for them that they might be saved. And for them to be saved they needed Jesus. The bible says that they did not submit to the righteousness of God hence they established their own righteousness which is through the law. So, we have to acknowledge the righteousness of God. Receive it and allow it to manifest in our lives. So to answer the question what is to be saved. We can say it is when you replace/substute the I ego and replace it with Jeus. Whatever we do its for his glory of God for it is not us who does it but Christ. When you replace yourself from the centre of your life and replace it with Christ then we say you have received him. That point he becomes the Lord of your life meaning you stop doing what you want but doing what he wants. Infect you become dead to those things and when you are dead the desire for sinning ceases. Meaning the will of God becomes your will.
