Prayer

Jesus’ priestly prayer appears to be a mystery in the scripture. By that, it was hidden and on few occasions it was recorded. While his kingly prayer are recorded many times. What I mean by priestly prayer is that Jesus appeared before God as a priest in a sanctified or set apart place. These are areas where there was no crowd and he pray addressing his issue to the father. On the other hand, a kingly prayer focuses on him healing speaking to wind and nature. Mark 11:23-24 teaches us that speaking to a mountain is classified as prayer. Because he would be speaking to a tree with authority then that’s a prayer that he is making as a king. A king does not beg but he speaks and orders are done.

Now to narrow down to priestly prayer of Jesus. I learnt something that he would go to secluded place to pray. Mark.1.35 – And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. He even teaches the same way of praying in Matthew 6. I also learnt something powerful from the story of Judas. Some qualifications that made Judas qualified to betray him was that he knew where he would be. They wanted to capture him in a place where there was no crowd so he went straight away to the garden. This entails us that it was not his first time to be there. I also believe that it was frequent so that Judas was able to predict it. It also appear that probably Judas appeared after 3 hours since he said cant you watch even for an hour and he went back 3 times. Which means that the time would be late as well. A challenge to a friend would be that pray not to be seen by man but by God. Be constant in prayer. It should be a habit to pray even when we do not feel like it. When you go through challenges, they might kill you yet you would have been strengthened like what was done to Jesus.

Guard your heart diligently.

One might ask what is my heart. The bible says with the heart a person believes. And belief is something that comes through continual hearing. Much of our belief system was built while we were still young. So according to Dr Miles Munroe that part of you which believe because you have heard is the heart. Its different from the mind in the sense that what is in the mind does not affect how we live. Decisions are made in the mind but decisions which have become your belief are stored in the heart. We can reason over facts in the mind but you don’t reason over what is in the heart. It seems as if faith is inherited not because it is in the genes but because it is passed on by the words that we hear. Remember most of the words we know were taught by parents. A good example is a trying to convince someone to change religion. It takes the power of God to do that. For those that know, religion has caused deaths in history.

Prov.4.23 – Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Now Solomon is teaching us to guard our hearts with diligence because from the same heart comes issues to do with life. So how do one guard his/her heart and what is he guarding against. We guard our heart from information. Not everything and everyone should you listen to. A person must know that thus person speaks words which empower me or not. We guard our hearts against those who speak fear in us. Those words which damage must be banned from our hearts. Those words of failure should not have a room in us. Every word which is not of God must be banned from us.

Mark 7:18-19[18]And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; [19]Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

Remember that what comes in and goes to the heart might defile. Food does not because it goes to the stomach. So guard your heart diligently. Consider the friends that you have, what influence do they have on the words you speak. Movies that you watch. Those vedio on tik tok and many more. Choose wisely what to do and what to hear and you will keep your heart safe.

The light

I used to think that walking in light means not sinning. 1 John 1:7 says, if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Verse 8 says, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If he was talking about sinning from verse 7 then there was no need for him to say that if we say we have not sinned, we deceive ourselves immediately. If he meant that walking in light means not sinning then verse 8 would be contradicting which is impossible in its contextual meaning,

Chapter 2 of John however explains what it means to walk in light. 1 John 2:10 says: Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But you can make mistakes while walking in love. I remember doing something by mistake to a friend. I was not able to pray. That fellowship was impossible because of the heaviness of heart until i went to my friend and confessed. Walking in love does not actually eliminate errors that we make. But if you chose love then you will have fellowship with God. Jesus taught a lesson about giving a gift at the alter. If someone remembers that he has something against someone, he must make things right with friend then my then the gift will be accepted. When we walk in love, we are walking in light. Since our father is light then we will be able to have fellowship with him.

The truth

The bible says, the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). What is the truth. The purpose of this post is to help us understand the clear line that exist the ministry of Moses and that for Jesus. Galatians 3:1 teaches us Galatians were bewitched and they ended up not following the truth. It seems as if that the truth reviewed Christ to them as crucified. Verse 2 shows that they were rather following the law, yet they were not following the truth. The same truth has the power to set one free. They that received the Spirit, received by hearing of faith. The truth can refer to the message as well as the person Jesus. Jesus was the word at the same time we have the word. The same truth which is the nature of the word became flesh and dwelt amongst us. Jesus has the truth, and he is the truth.

Only someone who was there possess the truth and is qualified to testify the truth. Jesus was qualified because he was there in the creation. At some point when asked about divorce he replied that divorce papers were not there in the beginning. The truth was that divorce was not there. When we follow Christ, at some point we have to go back to what life was in the beginning. The best way actually is to ask the Spirit of God who dwells in us. Jesus referred him as the Spirit of truth. The same is to lead us unto all truth. To show that we follow Christ, we do not go for the law because it was given by Moses, but the truth came by Christ. They that actually follow Moses when challenged with marriage they will sign divorce papers but that is not the truth.

The gospel

The word gospel means good news. News can only exist after an event is completed. The very same word appears in the New Testament only because the Old Testament does not have the gospel. Before Christ, we have prophecy and promises not yet fulfilled. These were fulfilled in Christ and for that reason we have the good news. This gospel gives assurance of our salvation. Salvation is available in his name. The bible says by his stripes we are healed. This message is be announced to the sick. The poor need to hear this message because Christ became poor so that we might be rich. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. God uses the gospel as a means to deliver his children out of the power of the darkness. The good news that we have heard is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead according to the scripture. Our hope rest upon what he did not what he is going to do. This is the good news that he died and rose from the dead. We are no longer dead in sin because we rose together with our Lord
